SIDPLAYER NEWS #10 May 1987 ANNOUNCEMENT OF SIDFEST 87 The Commodore Club of Central Ohio is sponsoring Sidfest 87, a celebration of computer-generated music on Commodore computers. This documentation file tells all about the event, including information about the activities, time and location, lodging, and registration. WHO: Anyone interested in music and Commodore computers WHAT: SidFest 87, a gathering of music and Commodore computer enthusiasts, featuring the Sidplayer music system WHERE: Ohio Exposition Center (Rhodes Center), Columbus, Ohio WHEN: Saturday, June 27th, 1987, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM EST WHY: To have a good time and learn more about computers and music, and to meet your favorite Sidplayer "artists" WOW! THE EVENT SidFest 87 will be a celebration of computer-generated music on the Commodore computers. This one-time-only event will include software demonstrations, workshops, a dealer show, a flea market of computer equipment and door prizes. Numerous Sidplayer artists who have created songs will be attending, including Harry Bratt and Craig Chamberlain, the authors of the Sidplayer music system, and there will be plenty of time for socializing. The event is being sponsored by the Commodore Club of Central Ohio. EVERYONE IS INVITED Even if you've never created a Sidplayer song and just like listening to the music, or you want to find out what it's all about, you are welcome to attend. You'll have the opportunity to meet several Sidplayer "names" in person, and there will be plenty of other activities to keep you busy. TIME The event is on Saturday, June 27th, 1987, and will run from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The activities will be running continuously so you may drop in for a while or stay for the whole event. Cafeteria service will be available. LOCATION The event will be held in Columbus, Ohio at the Ohio Exposition Center (the state fairgrounds), in the Rhodes Center building. The address is 600 E. 17th Avenue in Columbus. ADVANCE REGISTRATION If you plan to attend SidFest 87, you may register in advance by sending a check for $2.00 per person to: Commodore Club of Central Ohio P.O. Box 292392 Columbus, OH 43229 Make your check or money order payable to Commodore Club of Central Ohio, Inc. Please do not send cash. Include your name and address. The tickets and a map will be mailed back to you. Note that registration is $2.00 per person. For orders of 10 or more tickets, the price is $1.75 for each ticket. As a bonus, with the advance registration you get a free disk or tape of previously unreleased Sidplayer songs. You must be present to receive the disk or tape. Registration at the door will be slightly more expensive. IMPORTANT The purpose of the advance registration is to give the organizing committee an indication of the expected attendance to help them in their planning. If you plan to attend, please send in your advance registration as soon as possible. LODGING If you will be arriving from out of town and staying Friday or Saturday night, a hotel has been designated for SidFest 87. The hotel is the Cross Country Inn, at Exit 117 (Route 161) off of I-71 North. The rates per night are: Single: $28.95 ($32.78 including tax) Double: $33.95 ($38.35 including tax) For reservations, call toll free 1-800-621-1429 (or 614-848-3819 if 800 service is not available) and be sure to mention that you are attending SidFest 87. Your room will be included in the block reserved for people attending the event. The hotel has modular phone plugs in case you want to bring along your computer.
